About RentGuide

RentGuide is built for self-managing landlords in New Zealand, people who own a rental property (or a few) and handle the tenancy themselves rather than paying a property manager 6 to 12% of rent to do it.

That admin side of self-managing is real work: a compliant tenancy agreement, tracking who's paid and who hasn't, bond lodgement deadlines, Healthy Homes compliance, notices, inspections, and at tax time, an IR3R summary that actually adds up. RentGuide exists to help with that part: it works out the dates, prepares the paperwork and keeps the records. You still make the decisions, and you still do what the law asks of a landlord in person.

The legal figures RentGuide uses, such as notice periods, the bond lodgement window, rent increase rules and inspection limits, are each recorded with the tenancy.govt.nz page they were checked against and the date they were last read. None of it has been reviewed by a lawyer. Where something is genuinely a grey area or needs a professional (a lawyer, an accountant), the site says so rather than pretending otherwise.

Who's behind it

RentGuide is built and run by one person, based in Auckland, New Zealand. It's a small operation, not a call centre, so questions, problems and feedback all reach that same person: hello@rentguide.co.nz.
